We thank all of our community members and our partners for engaging in this Home Wildfire Preparedness Workshop + Discussion. As was mentioned in the discussion,
“We aim to reduce the risk to our individual homes… The more we can do as a group, the less likely it is that any one of (our homes) is going to be engulfed in a fire.”

Event Summary
The CU Center for Sustainable Landscapes and Communities (CSLC), the City of Boulder's Fire Department - Wildfire Program , Boulder County’s Wildfire Partners Program, and Colorado State Forest Service welcomed city and county residents to learn about home wildfire preparation.
Residents learned from local city of Boulder homeowners and City and County fire professionals on the best ways to prepare and mitigate for wildfires. They discussed strategies for your homes, moved to your backyards, and gave tips for motivating and working with your neighbors. Also, residents found out about local resources and tools to improve home safety, develop family preparedness and build neighborhood relations, such as touring a local wildland-urban interface neighborhood.
Workshop Format: All together in one Zoom room, participants received a brief overview of the basics of home wildfire preparedness & heard from a local city resident’s own strategies. Then participants were invited to join either a City of Boulder or Boulder County Zoom room for a facilitated dialogue and Q&A session with City and County wildfire professionals and residents. Our goal was to allow participants to learn from other organizations and each other about what so many people are preparing for and why.
