Boulder Ecosystem Summit: Biodiversity & Urban Land Cover Video

Past Event Details:

Welcome to the third Ecosystem Summit webinar of three: Biodiversity and Urban Land Cover

The Zoom link to this Webinar 3 will be emailed to you 1-week before the event.

The CU Center for Sustainable Landscapes and Communities (CSLC) and our integral partners welcome you to join the third of three webinars, which will focus on key trends in biodiversity and urban land cover featured in our 'Ecosystem Trends Report' (available in early November on CSLC's website). In this 90-minute, interactive virtual session, expert invited guests, including Val Matheson and Rella Abernathy with the City of Boulder, will help us take a closer look at status and trends in Boulder's birds, bees, and black bears, as well as ways in which community members can be involved in strategies to measure and protect these vital animals. In addition, Sara Tabatabaie will comment on the importance of Boulder's urban tree canopy for biodiversity and human well-being. After this initial panel, our guest speakers will interact in a “living-room” style forum and will address questions and comments from the audience, as well as mention ways participants can get involved and take action! Our goal is to engage individuals, community organizations and municipal partners to develop and promote strategies to enhance community awareness and action toward environmental sustainability.

Moderator: Dr. Karen Bailey, Assistant Professor, Environmental Studies Program at the University of Colorado, Boulder

This report is a digital-only format, including interactive content to compel and engage you, the reader. This report prioritizes six critical trends in Boulder’s ecosystems that are relevant to our community’s environment and well-being.
